Billie Eilish – Augmented Live Performance

Moment Factory

Moment Factory is a a multimedia company that creates infrastructures and experiences for various events and companies. One project in particular was a collaboration with young up and coming musical artist, Billie Eilish. Billie is a singer known for her edgy aesthetic and new age pop music. Her tour for this year was interrupted by the rise of Coronavirus world-wide. Instead of completely putting her concerts on hold, Billie and her team reached out to Moment Factory to create a new sort of virtual concert experience fit for a pandemic-ridden world. Together, they created an augmented reality concert full of otherwise impossible effects which made the entire livestream something to remember. Rolling Stone said, β€œBillie Eilish’s virtual concert is the rare livestream done right.”

Contributor notes

What is surprising, refreshing, most interesting?

Despite the lack of a traditional concert, Billie Eilish and Moment Factory were able to successfully put on a show that very may well serve as a poster child for a new age of concerts.

Key Insights? What can we learn from this?

Everything is changing. New opportunities for design and entertainment are rising and it is up to artists to create the new age of media consumption.
