Arcade1Up Infinity Game Table

A table that brings classic boardgames into a digital yet physical space.

“The Arcade1Up Infinity Game Table is an interactive piece of furniture for gamers that will greatly enhance their living room capabilities by bringing an array of titles to the built-in display. The table is for one to six players and has a WiFi-enabled functionality that can also be used for playing with others from around the world for an interactive experience. Users can download more than 50 games, while the high-resolution display will bring conventional board games and pastimes to life in a new way.”

Contributor notes

What is surprising, refreshing, most interesting?

This project has a sense of nostalgia because of the board games. What is interesting about this project is that event though the board games itself are transformed into a digital space, it still has a physical presence through the table. When people purchase board games, over time the individual pieces disappear one by one but with the table, it is all in one place. Instead of purchasing multiple board games and having them stack up in a corner, the games are stored in one area.

Key Insights? What can we learn from this?

From this project, we learn that it is possible to turn something that is seemingly built for a physical space into a digital space. A key insight is that board games and the table share a relationship where they are able to gather a group of people into an intimate setting and that this project was able to connect and visualize both in one project.
